3-22-14 - Farmers Market Spring Fling Bake Sale is a Huge Success! - Wanda Jorgensen and the Bakettes do it again! Who says bake sales don't make money?? They do when you offer gourmet delights to a public that is supportive of the project. We had lemon blueberry cakes, strawberry and mixed berry pies, Jane Austin's famous chocolate chip cookies, the coolest Bunny Butt cupcakes you've ever seen made by Jennifer Bryant, Jan Greer's delectrable bundt cakes (Chocolate Lovers, Cranberry Almond, etc.), homemade cinnamon rolls, pineapple upside down cakes, and more. In addition to home made doggie treats, Brenda Hayter brought plants and concrete sculptures made from plant leaves -- gorgeous! The sale made $600 for OMPET. Don't miss it next year!

3-22-14 - OMPET volunteers attend Texas Unites for Animals Conference - Diana Hensley, Judy Mahoney and Betty Yuracko attended the Texas Unites for Animals Conference in Austin for the third year in a row. Humane workers form across the state gather at this meeting annually to learn everything cutting edge in animal resce. Thank you ladies for making OMPET a better organization. Pictured at the left is Betty Yuracko at the Texas Unites Exhibit Hall Entrance.

March 2014 - SNIPPET (Spay Neuter Parternship Project of East Texas) Opens - Remember Dr. Sharon Phillips who came to visit us last year? She teamed up with SPCA of East Texas to open a lower cost spay-neuter clinic in Tyler, serving those who deomonstrate financial need. It's nice to see our seeds taking root and producing fruit. Way to go, OMPET Team! And congratulations to SPCA of East Texas and their new project SNIPPET.

3-13-14 - OMPET completes it's 400th surgery!

3-13-14 - Dr. Jim and Mrs. Connie Bielfeldt visit O'Malley PET - The Bieldfeldts will be starting their own low cost spay-neuter clinic in Central Texas and came to see what we do here to get ideas for their new operation. Dr. Bielfeldt pitched in and did surgery all morning. We enjoyed having them and wish them the very best in their endeavor to help repair the surplus pet problem in Texas. Connie and Jim Bielfeldt are pictured to the right. Hats off to the Bielfeldts!

3-2-14 - Daily Sentinel - Take steps to reduce numbers of animals killed in area shelters - Article by OMPET Volunteer Nancy Hinds.

2-22-14 - Daily Sentinel - Vets unsure of single-shot dog sterilization - local vets weigh in on the re-released product Zeuterin, released previously as Neutersol, which crashed and burned.

2-13-14 - KLTV - SPCA opens clinic to help with feral animals problem. SPCAET Director Dr. Sharon Phillips spent a day at O'Malley PET doing surgery recently, preparing for this clinic opening. We wish them great success.

2-3-24 SFA Professor Erin Childress does it again!! - Look at the loot! Twice a year, Erin Childress and her college students gather donations for OMPET. We get paper towels (we never have enough of those), cleaning supplies, dog and cat food, pet blankets, collars, toys, paper, etc. We'd never make it without Erin Childress and her students.

2-3-14 - LoneStar Pet Foods Donates a Palette of pet food to OMPET - In addition to spay-neuter services, OMPET distributes donated pet food to citizens in Nacogdoches County who demonstrate financial need. Until now, most of the donations came from private individuals, and our local WalMart that donates open containers of pet food and cat litter that they can not sell. WalMart donates pet food and litter to Nacogdoches Animal Services, and they are kind enough to provide us with the excess that they can not use. When our cupboard was bare, Carol Power arranged for the donation of a palette of food from Lone Star, just in time. Thank you Carol Power and Lonestar Pet Food!
