What's New at O'Malley PET

12-31-13 - Nacogdoches ROCKS! Private Donations to O'Malley PET have totaled $31,394.50 this year. Almost all of these funds were donated by citizens of Nacogdoches County, and the rest by citizens of surrounding counties and throughout Texas. The generosity of this community never ceases to amaze us. Thank you!

12-31-13 - Zoetis for Shelters Program saves O'Malley PET $6,454.47 on the cost of vaccines and other drugs in 2013. Zoetis was formerly known as Pfizer Animal Health, a veterinary drug and vaccine manufacturer. They have informed us that we will no longe rbe able to take advantage of these discounts on vaccines, but we thank them for their genreosity in the past.

12-13-13 - SFA Erin Childers and Biology Class donate a carload of supplies to OMPET - We are ever so grateful to SFA Porfessor Erin Childress and her students who gather supplies for us each semster. Just look at all fo the stuff!! We got pet food, cleaning supplies, toys, collars and lots more. Their generous donations probably save us thousands each year. Pictured at the left are Erin Childress (left) and OMPET Treasurer and Director fo Volunteers Michele Sprague (right). Thank you!

11-27-13 - The Much Anticipated 2013 Thanksgiving Pie Sale - This year, Wanda and her bakettes found a jewel. Donna Hammond baked cheesecakes this year - plain, pumpkin and salted caramel with chocolate ganache pecans. Wow!! We will also had the holiday favorites -- pumpkin, buttermilk, coconut custard, apple crumb, double crust apple, sugar free double crust apple, and pecan. We are also selling pie home made pie crusts for those who don't have the time, but don't want store bought. Don't worry -- we won't tell. Check out the pie sale flyer. We made almost $2000 on pies this year!

11-20-13 - OMPET Volunteers Help Feral Dog "Chokie" - "Chokie' is a dog that has been eating behind Ima Jean's Cafe in San Augustine for years. Someone put a collar on her as a pup, and as she grew, it became embedded in her collar. Citizens of San Augustine have been trying to catch or trap "Chokie" for some time, with no luck. She will not allow people to touch her. She had several litters of puppies during that time. Sissy Fults has been Chokie's self appointed caretaker for some time. Nacogdoches Animal Services lent the us of a humane trap, but Sissy was unable to lure her into the trap. Finally a posse of volunteers drove to San Augustine after a citizenhad trapped Chokie in their garage, and they were able to get Chokie into a trap without harm to anyone. Dr. Weatherly at Eastex Vet Clinic surgically removed the collar, and spayed Chokie. She stayed there for a few days while Sissy built Chokie a fenced in area for her to live in, compelte with a house and her own tree. She has not been able to touch Chokie yet, but Sissy is dtermined that someday she will. Chokie smiles and wags her tail, and plays with her dog friends.

11-7-13 - Completed our 1500th surgery since opening SpayNeuterNac in 2010!

10-18-13 - Introducing... Cowboy Cake Balls!! - Secret Weapon Wanda has outdone herself again. She has produced the cake ball for the ultimate Cowboys fan!! You will be the envy of the tailgate party!

10-17-13 - von Allmen Agency Donates OMPET Uniforms - Dr. Blount and the O'Malley PET volunteers along with von Allmen Agency, Kurth Memorial Shelter and Ellen Trout Zoo in Lufkin hosted a continuing education seminar last month. Proceeds from the event (more than $600) were used to order custom embroidered and printed scrub shirts, polo shirts and t-shirts for O'Malley PET volunteers, and the shirts are in!

10-15-13 - OMPET becomes a PetRescueRx Benefactor - Veterinarian Dr. Glenn Buckley started a really cool movement this summer, by founding PetRescueRx.com. Dr. Buckley and his brother draw no salary from this online pet pharmacy that donates net profits to the animal shelter/rescue of your choice. PetRescueRx.com has honored The O'Malley Alley Cat Organization by approving us as a rescue that can be selected by customers for periodic distribution of net profits. If you use an online pharmacy for your pets' medications, do us a favor, and use PetRescueRx.com. Just ask your veterinarian to fax or call the prescription in according to instructions on the website.

10-3-13 - O'Malley PET completes it's 200th surgery!!
